CDC Now Recommends All Baby Boomers Receive One-Time Hepatitis C Test

New approach will help avert major increases in liver disease and deaths in the U.S.

The CDC has taken an essential and strategic step in combating Hepatitis C by recommending that all Baby Boomers be tested. This cohort testing demonstrates recognition of the facts that liver disease can affect anyone and that 1 in 4 baby boomers already have Hepatitis C and are unaware. The American Liver Foundation supports the CDC recommendation and stands ready to work with state health departments and other organizations to increase the availability of screening tests across the country.
