The C.R.E.W. Program prepares women for re-entry through life skills instruction, job readiness training and health care services. Program partners include the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department; the South End Community Health Center (SECHC), a comprehensive urban health care provider; and Project Place, a multi-service agency that specializes in providing at-risk populations with education, life skills, job skills and job placement. Motivated female offenders who are within 3 months of their wrap-up or parole eligibility date are eligible to participate in the C.R.E.W. Program. The program begins with an 8-week life skills class that meets Monday through Friday for 90 minutes. In addition to the life skills class, program participants are introduced to case managers from both Project Place and the SECHC. Case managers are charged with meeting regularly with the participants both during and after incarceration (for up to two years) in order to address personal, housing, employment and health care needs. Participants who enroll in the C.R.E.W. Program and are transferred to the McGrath Halfway House will be eligible to continue services at the SECHC and Project Place.
