Beyond Trauma is a gender-responsive program developed by Stephanie Covington who is a pioneer in the development and implementation of gender-responsive services.

The program is designed to teach women what trauma is, its process, and its impact on both the inner self (thoughts, feelings, beliefs and values) and the outer self (behavior and relationships, including parenting).

The major emphasis is on coping skills with specific exercises for developing emotional wellness. The connection between trauma and substance abuse in women’s lives is a theme throughout.

Started in 2006

Who is helped?

The program is available to all women in the facility.

Capacity: 10-12 women at any given time.
