About the National Institute of Corrections

We are an agency within the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Institute is headed by a Director appointed by the U.S. Attorney General. A 16-member Advisory Board, also appointed by the Attorney General, was established by the enabling legislation (Public Law 93-415) to provide policy direction to the Institute.

The Working Group

Re-Entry Services assists former prisoners by providing walk-in services, which include a four-day re-entry workshop. The workshop addresses basic needs, such as how to obtain necessary identification and the skills necessary to find and keep a job. There is also a peer support group that meets monthly.

Women seeking basic necessities once released from prison. Capacity: Approximately 200 women a year.
