About the National Institute of Corrections

We are an agency within the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. The Institute is headed by a Director appointed by the U.S. Attorney General. A 16-member Advisory Board, also appointed by the Attorney General, was established by the enabling legislation (Public Law 93-415) to provide policy direction to the Institute.

Kate's Closet is a boutique that provides makeovers to women who were recently released from the Julia Tutwiler Prison. On visiting the boutique, women are given professional clothing to wear on job interviews, along with accessories, personal care items, and a Bible.

Women who are formerly incarcerated or are on probation and women seeking employment.
