The Michael Barlow Center provides education, training and job placement services to formerly incarcerated men and women. St. Leonard's Adult High School provides classes to adults 21 and older, offering an accelerated single-semester equivalent to the senior year of high school. Graduates earn a high school diploma endorsed by Regina Dominican High School in north suburban Wilmette. Introductory college courses also are offered. The Employment Preparation Training program offers a four-week, 50-hour employment-preparation program in collaboration with the Inspiration Corporation. The Barlow Center also offers entry-level training in culinary skills, green building maintenance and construction techniques and computer basics. Job seekers who have completed education or training programs are referred to a Barlow Center staff member who assesses their skills and refers them to jobs.
