Girl Scouts Beyond Bars is a prison based Girl Scout Troop program designed to enhance the parenting skills of incarcerated mothers, as well as strengthening the bonds of the mother-daughter relationship they have with their children.

The key goal of the program is to reduce the risk of daughters of incarcerated women becoming involved in unhealthy life choices. Through meetings held at MCI Framingham, both mother and daughter engage in activities that are designed to build self esteem and self-resiliency, awareness of others, and most importantly, in increasing girls’ ability to succeed in society.

Started in 1997

Who is helped?

Women looking to strengthen their bonds with their daughters age 7-17.

Capacity: Twenty women served at a time.
