The Moving On program objective is to enhance motivation and commitment to the change process; provide women with information that will increase their understanding of the contextual, situational and personal factors that contribute to criminal behavior; invite women to identify and build upon personal strengths and competencies; optimize social and instrumental functioning by providing women with a number of adaptive skills; help women identify secure and mobilize a range of resources that are needed to live, play and work in a healthy way in the community; to develop healthy relationships and connections within and outside of the program; support women with access to community activities, supports and connections that will increase social networks and reduce stress and help them identify and deal more effectively with new challenges and high-risk situations that can lead to problems with the criminal justice system. Additional component for domestic violence is added when appropriate. Evidence-based programming: Hazelden's "Moving On" curriculum

Who is helped?

Any woman coming through ICIW can take the class. Capacity: Inpatient Treatment does three classes a year; Outpatient Treatment does approx four classes per year with 20 in class; Aftercare does approximately the same amount of outpatient.
