Pledge to Reduce Car Trips and Win
The Regional Air Quality Council and the cities of Lakewood, Arvada, and Wheat Ridge are teaming up to bring you the “Every Trip Counts” program. This program rewards you for reducing at least two car trips per week during our summer ozone months from June to September. Reducing car trips during the summer months is one of the easiest and best ways to reduce ozone creating air pollutants.
By pledging to reduce at least two car trips per week, you can receive rewards like bike shop gift certificates, bus passes, and be eligible for random prize drawings throughout the summer. You will also be able to track your trips on our website and be able to see your impact on our summer air. Register today at www.everytripcounts.org
Have a Meeting On GSA - Try The Telepresence Demo Program
GSA telepresence is up and running in Building 41 on the Denver Federal Center and available for federal tenants. Telepresence is a “life-like” and “in-person” immersive meeting experience with HD actual-size images and spatial sound that makes it feel as though you are sitting across the table from someone who actually is across the country. Previous problems with screen images (i.e. delay, jitter) that have typically been associated with video-conferencing are eliminated with this new system. GSA telepresence rooms are designed, engineered and equipped for the specific purpose of providing a “natural” and “in-person” experience.
Telepresence is also typically defined as being extremely easy to use and support. Save your agency money by avoiding travel costs while reducing your carbon footprint. Contact Kieran Hussey at kieran.hussey@gsa.gov or 303.236.7356 for your free 60-minute telepresence meeting with your remote colleagues or request a free demonstration. Campus Public Transportation Update
The Regional Transportation District's (RTD) West Corridor Rail Line is close to completion. The 12.1 mile light rail transit line will serve Denver, Lakewood, Golden and Jefferson County. We are thrilled that the transit line includes a stop at the Denver Federal Center (DFC), at the new intermodal Federal Center Station just north of St. Anthony Hospital and west of Gate 5, along with the current local and regional bus services provided at the site. The West Rail line is slated for an early opening on April 26, 2013, only ten months away. Information regarding the travel times, travel frequency, parking location and fare zones can be found under the West Rail Line Operations link on the RTD Fastracks website at www.rtd-fastracks.com/wc_162.
GSA is also excited about it's recent partnership with the City of Lakewood and RTD to look at potential redevelopment opportunities at and north of the station, on land currently located outside of the DFC fenced areas. This partnership will enhance the land uses, services and amenities to create a "livable and sustainable community" for our federal tenants as well as local residents and businesses in the Lakewood area. For more information on the DFC's redevelopment efforts, please contact Lisa Dorsey Wild, Senior Project Manager at 303-236-2808 or at lisa.wild@gsa.gov.
