National Landscape Conservation System

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) oversees the National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS), which is an organized system of National Conservation Areas, National Historic Trails, National Monuments, Wild and Scenic Rivers, Wilderness Areas, and Wilderness Study Areas.

NLCS units managed by the Salt Lake Field Office are:

• National Historic Trails - A segment of The Pony Express National Historic Trail runs through the area.
• Wilderness Areas - The Salt Lake Field Office manages the Cedar Mountain Wilderness Area.
• Wilderness Study Areas (WSAs) - The Salt Lake Field Office manages 2 WSAs.
