dbSTS is an NCBI resource that contains sequence data for short genomic landmark sequences or Sequence Tagged Sites (Olson et al., 1989). STS sequences are incorporated into the STS Division of GenBank. The dbSTS database offers a route for submission of STS sequences to GenBank. It is designed especially for the submission of large batches of STS sequences. (See How to submit below)
The text search of the dbSTS database has been discontinued as of March 19, 2001. UniSTS reports information about markers from GenBank and other sources. STS division entries in GenBank can be retrieved using Entrez. The STS division nucleotide sequences can be searched using BLAST. The STS division nucleotide sequences in FASTA format are available by anonymous FTP. Data files for UniSTS are also available at this site.
