Government-wide Training Conference Aimed at Reducing Federal Energy Usage
PHOENIX – The 2008 GovEnergy Conference, geared to help federal agencies reduce energy use and costs and to meet requirements outlined in the newly enacted Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, opens today, the U.S. General Services Administration announced.
GSA is a co-sponsor of the event with the Departments of Defense, Energy, Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security as well as the Environmental Protection Agency.
“GSA is proud to be a co-sponsor of GovEnergy 2008—the premier energy training workshop and trade show in the United States,” said GSA’s Acting Administrator David Bibb. “With the federal government being the single largest energy user, it is incumbent upon us to help other federal agencies reduce their energy use and costs by expanding the use of alternative, cleaner sources of energy.”
Now in its 11th year, the GovEnergy conference is typically attended by federal, state, and local energy managers as well as others involved in energy management. By attending, participants gain the opportunity to benefit from available training sessions, networking and educational credits. Nearly 200 experts from around the country participate in the event, sharing their experiences, knowledge and ideas with attendees.
This year’s conference offers 3 days of comprehensive training covering everything from renewable energy and energy-efficient building operations to sustainable design principles.
The event also features a multi-million dollar showcase of products, equipment, and services from more than 100 companies and consultants. Hundreds of manufacturers are expected to display and share the latest technology advances in the energy efficiency industry.
