Welcome to the Nutrient Data Laboratory Home Page
The Mission of the Nutrient Data Laboratory is "To develop authoritative food composition databases and state of the art methods to acquire, evaluate, compile and disseminate composition data on foods and dietary supplements available in the United States."
The Nutrient Data Laboratory (NDL) has the responsibility to develop USDA's National Nutrient Database for Standard Reference, the foundation of most food and nutrition databases in the US, used in food policy, research and nutrition monitoring. Our database products are available to the public and scientific community. NDL is one of five units in the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center (BHNRC) of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS).
