National Preparedness Month concludes

The National Preparedness Campaign has concluded. We encourage you to continue your preparedness efforts.

Having a plan and knowing what to do before, during and after an emergency is a critical part of being prepared and may make all the difference when seconds count.

The basic steps to preparedness are the following:

  • Be informed – Know the hazards and risks in the local area;
  • Make a family emergency plan to assist in communicating with and finding family members if emergencies occur;
  • Build an emergency supply kit – both at home and in the car – that includes three days water, food and first aid supplies; and
  • Get involved – Find out how to volunteer and promote preparedness in the community.

The Wyoming Office of Homeland Security urges residents to ‘pledge to prepare’ by visiting ready.gov and indicating their preparedness participation.

Having an all-hazard weather radio will provide emergency information during times of inclement weather and power outages.

For more preparedness information visit ready.gov.

This campaign is sponsored by the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security and the Wyoming Citizen Corps Council.
