The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program offers you education in all aspects of finance. It offers a blend of accounting, economics, and finance along with the study of economic theory. One of the most important attributes of a successful executive is the ability to develop business strategies based on key financial issues. Today’s business leaders must have a comprehensive understanding of interest rates, capital markets, investments and financial analysis. These are the same skills gained by students graduating with the Walsh College MSF degree. You will graduate with the ability to gather financial information and make decisions with insight and confidence. Regardless of prior educational or professional achievements, this knowledge is a  vital in today’s competitive job market.

The Master of Science in Finance consists of three foundation courses (which may be excluded based on the student's previously completed coursework, time limits do apply), 6 required core courses, and 6 elective courses, of which four may be taken in one of the designated specializations. You may, but are not required to, focus your courses in a specialization.These specializations include:

• Corporate Finance
• Personal Financial Planning
• Financial Services.

Opportunities for Employment
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the deregulation of the banking industry has allowed banks, insurance companies and brokerage firms to broaden their financial services portfolios, creating additional need for financial analysts and personal financial advisors.  Senior level positions in corporate finance including senior financial and cost analysts, and controllers and CFO’s would typically require an MSF or a CPA.  Students seeking jobs at top securities firms where the pay can be lucrative will face stiff competition.

Program Format
To earn an MSF degree from Walsh College, you must complete 12 to 15 courses, totaling 36 to 45 credits, depending on prior course work. Advanced standing credit is not to exceed 12 semester credit hours and may be awarded towards the MSF degree for equivalent, graduate course work completed at another institution; time limits may apply. A minimum of 24 hours must be taken in residence at Walsh College.
