Building on previous knowledge, this certificate will allow you the ability to manage an organizational security program in either the private or public sector in the global marketplace. The goal of the certificate is to prepare you to assist organizations with their security management, outsourcing, and compliance requirements while preparing you for the CISM certification exam.

Admissions Criteria
Available to individuals holding a bachelor's or master's degree. Applicant must possess a bachelor's or Master's degree in a computer related fieldor provide documented competency in the area of computer security; a minimum of one of the following is required:

  • Security+ Certification
  • CIW Security Certification
  • Network+ Certification
  • Microsoft Certification (MCSA, MCSE)
  • Novell Certification (CNA, CNE, MCNE)
  • CISCO Certifications (CCNA, CCNE, CCIE)

OR

Two years of verifiable professional-level, full-time work experience in network design/development/administration or information assurance.

OR

Successfully complete BIT 526 Enterprise Network Architectures with a grade of "C" (2.000) or better

And

Gainful Employment Disclosure Statement
Occupations in which graduates typically find employment after completing the Chief Information Security Officer Certificate include Information Security Analysts.  Further information on occupations may be found at http://online.onetcenter.org/crosswalk/ and entering the SOC code of 15-1122.   The normal time frame for completing the certificate is 9 semesters if a student takes all foundation and required courses. The normal time frame for completing the certificate is 4 semesters if a student takes only required courses.   One student enrolled in the certificate program during the 2010-11 academic year who did not completed the certificate in the normal time frame.  For students who had to complete all required and foundation courses, we estimate that tuition and fees would total $16,704 and that books and supplies would total $1,647.  For students who had to complete only required courses, we estimate that tuition and fees would total $7,424 and books and supplies would total $732. The median loan amount for students in this certificate program was 0.
