Consultation & Technical Assistance
People, agencies and other entities who may impact protected species or habitat need to contact us before taking action. Four divisions of our office do endangered species consultation and technical assistance. These four geographic divisions are Sacramento Valley, San Joaquin Valley, Coastal and Forest-Foothills. We serve the Central Valley, San Francisco Bay, Lassen and western Sierra areas of California. See more information about our jurisdiction.

The Bay-Delta Fish and Wildlife Office handles conservation issues related to the Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta, including issues related to the Delta and longfin smelt.

- San Joaquin/Tulare Valley floor up to 1500' in Stanislaus, Merced, San Joaquin, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kings and Kern Counties.

- The Bay-Delta Fish & Wildlife Office handles conservation issues related to the Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta, including issues related to the Delta and longfin smelt.

- Sacramento Valley floor up to 1500' in Shasta, Tehama, Glenn, Butte, Colusa, Sutter, Yuba, El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Yolo and Sacramento Counties, and in the Sacramento River basin of Siskiyou County.
- Valley elderberry longhorn beetle projects in Lake, Napa and Solano counties.
- The Bay-Delta Fish & Wildlife Office handles conservation issues related to the Sacramento - San Joaquin Delta, including issues related to the Delta and longfin smelt.
- The Red Bluff Fish & Wildlife Office handles endangered species consultations with Shasta-Trinity and Mendocino National Forests, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, and the Bureau of Land Management Redding Resource Area.

- Napa, Sonoma, Marin, Lake, Solano, San Francisco, San Mateo, Alameda, Contra Costa and Santa Clara Counties.
- "Forest" consultations are covered by the Forest-Foothills Division. Most consultations in southern Mendocino County are also covered by the Forest-Foothills Division.

- The Arcata Fish & Wildlife Office handles most projects in Mendocino County above the Russian River basin.

The Red Bluff Fish & Wildlife Office is an independent office handling endangered species consultations with Shasta-Trinity and Mendocino National Forests, Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, and the Bureau of Land Management Redding Resource Area. It is a separate office, not a division of the Sacramento office.
