| Description |
The objective was to assess the
current knowledge of ice accretion on offshore structures in the Arctic, with emphasis on
the St. George Basin. This is an adjunct project to Projects Nos. 56 and 61. Using
industry sources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Cold Regions Research and Engineering
Laboratory (CRREL) supervised the installation of sensors on two mobile drilling rigs
operating in the St. George Basin. CRREL trained vessel observers to make the necessary
observations during a 2 to 3 month drilling program. |
| Progress |
Complete. Instruments were
installed on two offshore rigs drilling in the St. George Basin. Due to light weather,
very little icing occurred. The data that was obtained was analyzed and compared with that
obtained during the previous projects. The final report was prepared and distributed. |
