Join us for this exciting session of Grand Rounds where we will highlight the role of rapid identification of emerging infectious disease, demonstrate the role pathology plays, and discuss the critical roles of medical examiners, coroners, and state and local agencies.
As our world increases in interconnectivity of both technology and people, the rapid identification of emerging infectious diseases becomes more important for disease treatment, control, and prevention. Pathologists are often among the first healthcare workers to encounter infectious disease outbreaks. They are in an excellent position to discover emerging infectious diseases.
CDC plays an ongoing role in the laboratory diagnosis of unexplained infectious illnesses and collaborates 24/7 with state, local, and international partners in order to track emerging pathogens and understand the unexplained.
Future Grand Rounds topics include infant mortality reduction, injection safety, disability, and venous thromboembolism.
