Rear Admiral C. Forrest Faison III

Commanding Officer - NMCSD

Congratulations on your orders to Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD), "The Pride of Navy Medicine," a premier teaching hospital and referral center for the Armed Forces.

You will be joining a command with a rich history and tradition. Our team of over 6,000 military and civilian professionals provides state of the art health care to our military community. We are privileged to care for the wounded from Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM, as well as Sailors and Marines preparing to deploy, their family members, and those who have served our nation in the past.

In addition, NMCSD augments several operational platforms, including the USNS MERCY (TAH19), Casualty Receiving and Treatment Ships, Expeditionary Medical Facilities, and the I Marine Expeditionary Force. In the last two years, our staff has supported successful missions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and the Philippines; providing casualty care, force health protection, disaster relief, and humanitarian assistance.
