A team of three full-time policy advisors and their assistants work in the Diversity Management Division. The advisors work to manage diversity, identifying and removing barriers to job satisfaction, so that all of Team Coast Guard may work in an environment where the differences and similarities of all personnel are recognized, understood, and valued.
Policy advisor functions:
Continually assess diversity issues in the Coast Guard.
Coordinate diversity awareness and diversity management modules for Coast Guard leadership development programs.
Advise and assist Coast Guard employees on diversity management and leadership practices.
Provide career guidance, counseling, and intercession if required to military and civilian personnel on diversity-related issues.
Facilitate, advise, and coordinate the Diversity Advisory Council.
Maintain liaison with recognized military and civilian organizations that study, influence, or are involved with work force diversity.
Manage the Workforce Cultural Audit action items and plan for follow-up audit.
