Walk in Their Footsteps Shoe/Boot Drive

The HUD Veterans Affinity Group (VAG) has launched its "2012 Walk-In Their Footsteps" shoe collection drive in support of the 17th Annual Washington, DC VA Medical Center (VAMC)/Winterhaven Stand Down. The shoe collection, now in operation, continues through January 13. Drop-off points are the HUD DC Field Office at 820 First Street, NE, Room 300, and the HUD Headquarters Building at 451 7th Street, SW (collection bins are located in the lobby).

This collaborative effort with the VAG, VAMC, and other federal partners, seeks donations of new shoes and/or boots for homeless female and male veterans (all sizes), in the Washington Metropolitan Region (Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia). All new shoes/boots will be distributed at the 17th Annual Washington, DC VA Medical Center (VAMC)/Winterhaven Stand Down scheduled for Saturday, January 21, at 50 Irving Street, NW, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.

We all recognize that the need is great and we continue to struggle in these challenging economic times, however, we are hoping that you will join us, in this heartfelt desire, to assist those who have given much of themselves in support of our liberty and freedom.

Your support will be more than just a contribution to address a critical need; it will say that you are intricately involved in our community and dedicated to assisting in the goal to eliminate homelessness.

If you need further information on how you can contribute to this effort, contact Walter Elmore at (202) 275-6323 or Donald Wooten at (202) 402-2493.
