D.C. Field Office Instrumental in Success of Shoe and Boot Drive to Benefit Local Homeless Veterans

HUD's D.C. Field Office Veterans Group-comprised of Ernest Dawson, Larry Green, Vanessa Barnard, Drellar Allan, and Walter Elmore-joined forces with the Veterans Administration Central Office and the Union Plaza Management Team to collect over 100 pairs of new shoes and boots for D.C. area homeless veterans. The shoes and boots collected by the Veterans Group were distributed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center's 17th Annual Winter Haven/Stand Down in D.C. on January 22nd.

More than 500 hundred homeless veterans attended this year's Winter Haven seeking housing and employment information and referrals, clothing and other supportive services, as well as VA claims and benefits information. Thanks and congratulations to the D.C. field office staff for their extraordinary efforts to help transform the lives of homeless veterans in our nation's capital!
