The best fire prevention is fire education.
What a difference it would make if everyone were as educated about home fire safety as you are. As you know, adults 65 and older have a significantly increased chance of dying in a residential fire. To combat this problem, USFA is targeting a younger segment of the population, people 50-plus, in addition to the high risk group. Many baby boomers are caring for family members ages 65-plus and can encourage fire-safe habits while getting a head start themselves!
We urge you to take this campaign straight to the people you serve, rescue and protect. USFA has developed two documents to help you plan your department's Fire Safety Campaign for People 50-Plus:
