Improve Aviation Safety
Effective aircraft safety is crucial in protecting lives and preserving valuable assets. To set the national standard in aviation safety, GSA and the Interagency Committee for Aviation Policy (ICAP) pioneer efforts to explore and establish best practices in aviation safety. The ICAP has established the Safety Standards and Training Subcommittee to oversee the following programs:
- The Federal Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) Program trains aviation safety officers on how to manage risk and promote safe practices.
- The Aviation Resource Management Survey (ARMS) program supplies federal agencies with a team of experts to assess their aviation safety standards.
- The Gold Standard Certificate program acknowledges agencies that have achieved superior aviation safety standards. All nominees for the Federal Aviation Program Awards must have the Gold Standard Certificate.
