I was recently accepted into medical school into what seemed to be the last seat, based on how late into the summer this is. I intended to use the ASR - but that is gone. I was thinking that HPLR would be a suitable contingency, but now I am finding out that this will not work. Here is the hitch... I am a MAJ with 13 yr. NG service in WV. I was told yesterday that HPLR will not pay for me IAW a reg that came about in JAN of 2012 that prevents acquisition of education benefits if the required repayment time for these will take the soldier past the "possible" retirement time. I have (7+ years before 20) - 4yr. medical school = 3 years...but I need 6 to repay HPLR.

Does anyone know the full aspect of this regulation and is it waiverable. In my experience, everything in the military is waiverable if you find the right person...anyone know the right person.

School starts on 6 AUG 2012 so 'short timeline' is an understatement. Thanks ahead of time for any input or POC's.
