RHA Biography
In 2007, after more than 22 years caring for American Indians and Alaska Natives, Dr. Galloway was selected as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Regional Health Administrator (RHA) for Region V where he serves as the lead federal physician, the principal federal public health official and the senior U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps Officer. Region V encompasses the six states of the upper mid-west and over 20 percent of the U.S. population. In addition, he was the Region C Senior Health Official for pandemic influenza and bioterrorism, covering 12 states and in 2010 he was the HHS Senior Health Official for the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill.
Prior to these activities, Dr. Galloway was the senior cardiologist nationally for the Indian Health Service. Dr. Galloway is board-certified in both internal medicine and cardiology. He has published over 180 articles, abstracts, book chapters and one book. Dr. Galloway has been repeatedly selected by his peers annually as one of the “Best Doctors in America.”
