What is the methylated genome?      David Bodine, M.D., Ph.D.: I investigate the genetics of pluripotent hematopoietic stem cells (PHSCs) to improve the effectiveness of bone marrow transplantation and to find better ways to use these unique cells for gene replacement therapy. About 10 of the "C" bases in the genome are methylated. The patter is very different in different kinds of cells. We have to sequence all the bases to figure out which "Cs" are methylated.
