  • Article OEA Transportation Infrastructure Grants Approved

    Monday, August 6, 2012

    On August 6, 2012, Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced two grants from the Office of Economic Adjustment, including a $40,000,000 grant to Montgomery County, Maryland for transportation access to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, and a $5,700,000 grant to the City of Lakewood, Washington for improvements to the Freedom Bridge overpass near the Madigan Army Medical Center gate. The Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission process increased personnel and traffic at both of these communities.

DOD's 2012 report also provides updates to several elements of the plan that the act required DOD to include in its original submission in 2004.
