Instructions for creating a mobile alert to send a text message to your cell phone when this page is updated:
- Open your Web browser and navigate to Yahoo! Alerts at http://alerts.yahoo.com/main.php?view=blogs a service that offers RSS to SMS.
- If you already have a Yahoo! account, log in. If you do not have a Yahoo! account, click the Sign Up button and fill in the appropriate information to create an account.
- Under the Create an Alert tab, choose Feed/Blog.
- Near the bottom of the page click Add a mobile device. First specify daily Message Limit, preferably 5 per day. Click Continue to Step 2. Enter your 10 digit phone number and choose your Wireless carrier. Click Continue to Step 3. An alert will be sent to your phone with a confirmation number. Enter this in the Confirmation Code box and choose Confirm. This will take you back to the Alerts page.
- Enter the URL for the web site's RSS feed in the space provided. For the GP Emergency Closure Information alert, the web address is http://www.usbr.gov/gp/coop.xml
- Place a check mark next to the Mobile option under the Deliver To: subheading.
- Click the Save Alert button to save the alert.
- Repeat steps 5 through 7 for any other RSS feed that you want sent to your cell phone via text messages.
- Choose Sign Out at the top left of the screen.
