This is just one question from an archive of the National DNA Day Moderated Chat held in April 2008. The NHGRI Director and many genomics experts from across NHGRI took questions from students, teachers and the general public on topics ranging from basic genomic research, to the genetic basis of disease, to ethical questions about genetic privacy.

Do you like DNA day?      Phyllis Frosst, Ph.D.: Investigating genetic discrimination, direct to consumer marketing of genetic tests and pharmacogenomics. I do. It's a special day (like a birthday) to celebrate our DNA, the focus of my work. The nice people who organize the chatroom make it fun for all of us (and provide coffee!). Answering questions about DNA is different from what I do on most days, and when I talk to high school students about DNA, it's always been a great experience. Mound Westonka High School in MN (9th grade student)
