INL Assistant Secretary Brownfield Travels to Mexico

Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) William R. Brownfield will travel to Mexico, March 7, 2011. Assistant Secretary Brownfield’s visit will demonstrate U.S. commitment to maintaining and encouraging the continued partnership between the United States and the government of Mexico to support citizen security in the region.

On March 7, Assistant Secretary Brownfield will meet with Foreign Minister Patricia Espinosa, Undersecretary for North American Affairs Julian Ventura, Merida Coordinator Minister Enrique Rojo, Procurador General Chavez Chavez, Secretary of Public Security Garcia Luna, and Undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean Ruben Beltran to review Merida Initiative implementation, Central American security cooperation, and state and local initiatives. Assistant Secretary Brownfield also will meet with Attorney General Arturo Chavez to discuss judicial reforms in Mexico.
