Greetings, and on behalf of the men and women of the Hoover Dam Police Department, welcome to the official Hoover Dam Police Department website. This site provides valuable travel and security information to those visiting and working at Hoover Dam.
The Hoover Dam Police Department is a progressive and value-driven organization that has been providing public safety and resource protection to Hoover Dam since construction first began in the early 1930s.
We are the only police department within the Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation, and are committed to the mission of "Safeguarding a National Icon and Service to its Community".
Our department is resolved to maintaining core values of: Service with Respect, Professionalism, Commitment, Inventiveness, and Integrity.
The Hoover Dam Police Department provides professional anti-terrorism and public safety services in safeguarding Hoover Dam and its valued employees, visitors, and contractors. We also preserve our cultural and natural resources by protecting the historical artifacts and surroundings of the dam in our daily activities.
Hoover Dam police provide protection, law enforcement, safety and security services to the millions of visitors to the dam, as well as employees and contractors working at the site. The force also ensures the facility and all associated buildings and property is secure, enabling the continued functioning of one of the Nation's major water storage and power generation facilities, and a national civil engineering landmark. Officers also ensure compliance with state laws and federal rules of conduct, prevent destruction or theft of government and/or private property, and address a variety of law enforcement situations ranging from minor violations to felony crimes.
The department carries out its mission through a collaborative partnership among highly qualified civilian personnel, law enforcement officers, security guards, and contract employees that work as a team committed to representing the highest values and traditions maintained by the Bureau of Reclamation and the Department of the Interior.
This is an exciting time for our department, as we are in the midst of positive transition and reinvention, introducing and implementing state-of-the-art security and law enforcement technologies to support our mission.
We are proud of the relationships fostered with our federal, state and municipal partners to bring quality police services to Hoover Dam. In this critical post-9/11 environment, it is crucial that all agencies work collaboratively to provide the best public safety possible.
Hoover Dam is an engineering marvel, a proud symbol of American ingenuity and dedication. And the Hoover Dam Police Department has shared in the proud history of this magificent structure since its origins. Today, the police force continues to be steadfastly committed to protecting and defending this American icon.
