ANNOTATION: The challenges faced by tribal, state, and federal justice systems in sharing information and resources and strategies for successfully linking these resources together so that pretrial, probation, and parole officers can be effective in the performance of their jobs are discussed. Sections comprising this report include: background—tribal justice challenges; logistics; definitions; information sharing—what information needs to be shared, advantages to sharing information, obstacles and barriers (such as legal, trust, and technological), and overcoming barriers; resource sharing—what resources need to be shared, advantages to improved resource sharing, obstacles and barriers (such as rural and remote locations and transportation issues, access to treatment/community resources, access to training and technical assistance opportunities), and overcoming barriers; and focus group summary comments.
