Duchenne/Becker
Muscular Dystrophy
The most common form of muscular dystrophy in children is Duchenne
muscular dystrophy (DMD). Learn more about this genetic disorder that
affects about 1 out of every 3,500 to 6,000 boys.
Fragile
X Syndrome
Fragile X is a group of genetic disorders that can affect individuals
and their families in many ways. Fragile X syndrome (FXS) is the most
common known cause of intellectual disability (also known as mental
retardation) and developmental disability that can be inherited. The
exact number of people who have FXS is unknown, but it is estimated
that about 1 in 4,000 males and 1 in 6,000 to 8,000 females have the
disorder.
