Circulation Policies and Procedures
Obtaining Materials
- Three materials may be checked out at a time for a period of one month. The due date may be extended if the materials have not been requested by another patron.
- If materials are needed by a specific date, please contact the resource specialist at least one month in advance to verify availability and reserve them.
- Once requested materials have been shipped, they should arrive within three business days. The library uses UPS 3-day or ground service (depending on the location of the borrower).
Returning Materials
- Once materials are in the possession of the borrower and until they arrive back at the library, the borrower is responsible for the full cost of replacement if materials are lost or damaged. Borrowers are also responsible for the cost of shipping materials back to the library.
- The library provides a self-addressed sticker to use when returning materials. If the sticker has been lost, ship materials to NSLC at 4 Carbonero Way, Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
- Materials can be returned via any carrier the borrower chooses (like UPS, FedEx, or USPS). When returning materials, it is the borrower's decision to insure them (or not). We strongly suggests insuring shipments - especially when using USPS.
- If materials are not returned by the due date, a reminder email will be sent. If they are not returned within four weeks of their due date, an email may be sent to the borrower's supervisor. After six weeks, your agency will be invoiced for the cost of replacement.
