Program DescriptionTo Establish an MRC unit in American Samoa the following is proposed.Local unit will consists of volunteers gathered from the local community and from the data base of the ESAR VHP through the Department of Health. Looking towards working closely with the local Red Cross chapter and the Ameri Corps. Those are two local groups that we hope to integrate some of our trainings and services with.The Samoans are a unique group of people in that the culture and religious beliefs play a major part in all activities and events, issues and concerns. Because of that we would have to also solicit the assistance of the local Samoan Affairs Department. They deal primarily with the village chiefs and leadership.Activities that would definitely generate the participation and commitment and interest of our communities is lots of advertisement and exposure and trainings. And of course the beneficial aspects. Providing visualization of MRC (what it is and what it can offer) to promote or attract any type of involvement is expected.
