Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Michael Posner and Special Representative and Policy Coordinator for Burma Derek Mitchell will travel to Burma this week. Assistant Secretary Posner arrives in Burma November 1, and Ambassador Mitchell arrives on November 2. In both Nay Pyi Taw and Rangoon, they will meet with senior Burmese officials, representatives of international organizations, and civil society groups to discuss a range of issues related to human rights and reform in Burma. Assistant Secretary Posner and Ambassador Mitchell will depart Burma for Washington on November 4.
