As SBA’s Regional Communications Director for the Chicago Regional Office, Carol manages marketing and media relations for the states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.

 

She is one of ten Regional Communications Directors that help promote the Agency’s message on small business trends and, most importantly, inform the public about SBA’s phenomenal success stories.

 

Prior to the SBA, Wilkerson coordinated marketing and outreach efforts throughout the Midwest for the Peace Corps’ Chicago Regional Recruiting Office. Wilkerson was a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Eastern Caribbean from 1995-1997 where she consulted non-profit organizations and government agencies on media strategies. While in the Eastern Caribbean, Wilkerson worked closely with the region’s print and broadcast media.

 

Before moving to Chicago, Wilkerson worked in Washington, D.C. with a consulting firm on a global environment project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). She also worked on a variety of media projects throughout the East Coast including producing radio and television programs for universities and major network affiliates. Wilkerson received her Master’s degree in Public Administration from Rutgers University. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Mass Communications from Hampton University.

 

Aside from her professional career, Wilkerson works on a host of volunteer public relations projects and is involved with several civic organizations.
