Thomas K. Mueller assumed the position of District Director for the Columbus District Office of the Small Business Administration on December 1, 2003. Mr. Mueller began his service with the SBA in 1996. Immediately before he became District Director he was the Deputy Associate Administrator for the Small Business Development Center Program serving in SBA's headquarters in Washington DC. As District Director he is now responsible for ensuring that small businesses in Ohio's 60 northwest, central, and southern counties are well served by SBA's loan and technical assistance programs.

Prior to joining the SBA, Tom was an auditor for the Resolution Trust Corporation's Office of Contractor Oversight and Surveillance, and Office of Inspector General. He also worked for the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) in Washington DC.

Tom grew up in Cleveland and was a small business owner there. He was a General Contractor remodeling homes in the inner city.

Tom is a decorated veteran. He served with the U.S. Marines in Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart and Navy Commendation Medal (with Combat V). Tom received a B.A. from West Virginia University. He became a CPA in 1991 and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Tom has been married since 1980 and is the father of five children ranging in age from 8 to 20.
