The Teacher Quality Program works to implement Department initiatives that support and test innovations in the area of teacher and principal quality. The key goals of the TQP program are to prepare and retain effective teachers and school leaders, and to encourage partnerships between LEAs, institutions of higher education, and community stakeholders in order to improve our nation’s schools and student achievement.
Great teachers and passionate principals are absolutely heroes to me and countless students because they change the trajectory of children's lives for the better. They stir curiosity and illuminate the power of learning. I cannot think of a single, vital school reform that is teacher-proof or principal-proof.—
