The Office of Public Liaison held its inaugural Foreign Policy Classroom briefing on Tuesday, January 17. Mike Hammer, the Acting Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs, addressed students from several universities, including American University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, Harvard University, Howard University, the University of Delaware, and the University of the District of Columbia. The topic of the briefing, “The U.S. Foreign Policy Agenda for 2012,” touched upon several key policy areas such as elevating the role of economics in foreign policy, managing the challenges and opportunities of the Arab Spring, and empowering women and girls.
