Accelerator Update for January 30, 2009 - February 2, 2009

Friday Jan 30

The day shift began with Operations monitoring the Tevatron (TeV) store 6762 (240.13E30) and the Recycler stash (142.8E10), with the Antiproton Source stacking (34.8E10), with the Linac, Booster, and Main Injector (MI) operating normally, with the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) and D-Zero (D0) experiments using the colliding beams, and with the MiniBooNE and NuMI experiments taking beam.

Operations terminated store 6762 at 8:21 PM.

Operations put the TeV into shot setup at 8:35 PM.

Operations established store 6763 at 9:50 PM with an initial luminosity of 318.43E30.

Saturday Jan 31

The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 6763 (197.87E30) and the stash (104.7E10), with Pbar stacking (15.0E10), and with NuMI and MiniBooNE taking beam.

Operations terminated store 6763 at 1:30 PM.

Operations put the TeV into shot setup at 1:39 PM.

Operations established store 6764 at 3:14 PM with an initial luminosity of 324.2E30.

Sunday Feb 1

The midnight shift began with Operations monitoring store 6764 and the stash, with Pbar stacking, and with NuMI and MiniBooNE taking beam.

Operations terminated store 6764 at 6:23 AM.

Operations put the TeV into shot setup at 6:34 AM.

Operations established store 6765 at 8:13 AM with an initial luminosity of 317.25E30.

Operations terminated store 6765 at 11:10 PM.

Operations put the TeV into shot setup at 11:21 PM.

Monday Feb 2

The midnight shift began with the Tevatron in shot setup, and with NuMI and MiniBooNE taking beam.

Operations established store 6766 at 12:39 AM with an initial luminosity of 316.27E30.

At 5:58 AM, Operations started to experience problems with the Booster Chopper (B:CHOP), experts were called to investigate. No beam for stacking or to the users.

The Plans for Monday

The plans are to repair the Booster Chopper, and return to stacking, stashing, and colliding.
