USAID has strengthened its policy and strategy capacity by revitalizing several Agency-wide processes for formulating and implementing policies and strategies that are based on evidence.
The USAID Policy Framework 2011-2015 provides staff and partners globally with a clear sense of core development priorities and translates other far reaching documents into more detailed operational principles. The Framework also explains how USAID applies to these principles across the portfolio.
In addition, the Agency has developed in close partnership with our Missions, Bureaus and other partners a number of policies and strategies based on analysis, evidence and past experience. These documents clarify the Agency's corporate position in key areas and provide Agency-wide guidance to the field. These include:
- Evaluation Policy
- Education Strategy
- The Development Response to Violent Extremism and Insurgency Policy
- Global Climate Change and Development Strategy
- Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy
Additional policy statements and strategies are forthcoming in the areas of Youth in Development, Water Strategy, and Democracy, Rights and Governance.
