FDA's New Web Site

We at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition would like you to know about changes to www.FDA.gov.

Why is FDA changing its Web site?

Simply, we listened to you. We evaluated our Web site with a sampling of our key audiences:

• consumers
• health professionals
• industry representatives

Through collaboration with users in testing site-wide designs, we made improvements to make FDA.gov easier and more satisfying to use.

What will be different about the new site?

We've created new features that will allow you to find information more quickly. Some examples:

• Information is categorized by topic for easier retrieval, with related subjects consolidated in sections on the site.
• Page design and navigation have been updated and are consistent throughout the site.
• Content has been reviewed for relevance, with redundant and outdated content removed.

Will I still be able to use the URLs I've saved in my "bookmarks" or "favorites"?

The new Web site will have new URLs for all content. We are redirecting a number of our old URLs to their new locations. Among these are

• Food, Cosmetics, and Color Additives home pages
• Food Facility Registration
• Prior Notice
• Voluntary Cosmetic Registration Program

We encourage you to update your favorites with the new URLs.

What if I'm not redirected to a page I'm looking for?

We’ve worked hard to organize resources by topic to make them easy to find. You also can use the search function that is featured on both the Food and Cosmetics home pages.

In some cases, you may find that an older document has been superseded by resources that are more up to date. Some features will return in the near future as we complete the transition to our new format.
