Overview

Currently, there are around 400,000 children in the U.S. foster care system; 104,000 of these children are waiting for families to adopt them.

Since 2004, the campaign has consistently delivered the message that “You don’t have to be perfect to be a perfect parent.” Humor is brought to the seemingly challenging task of adopting a child from foster care, to reassure prospective parents that even if not ‘perfect,’ they have the ability to provide the stability and security that a child needs and deserves.

New PSAs reaffirm the campaign’s notion that being an imperfect parent is “perfectly normal,” revealing the imperfect moments that can occur in everyday life. Potential parents are reminded that children in foster care don’t need perfection; they need the commitment and love an adoptive family can provide.
