In President Obama's announcement on June 2009 in his Cairo speech, "A New Beginning," and on the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship in April, the focus on global entrepreneurship is a growing element in our foreign economic and development policy. CBA supports this commitment to entrepreneurship through a variety of mechanisms. See the links below for more information.

Global Entrepreneurship Program
This embassy-based program coordinated from the State Department's Economic, Energy, and Business Bureau seeks to enlist and coordinate partners by identifying entrepreneurs, training them, connecting them to colleagues, guiding them to funding, sustaining their good work, and celebrating their successes. The Global Entrepreneurship Program will also direct U.S. government programs towards these activities. More»

Partners for a New Beginning
This independent group of 12 eminent Americans, chaired by former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright; Walter Isaacson, President of the Aspen Institute; and Muhtar Kent, CEO of Coca-Cola, will champion a new effort that will reach out to the full array of U.S. private sector partners--companies, universities, foundations, and NGOs--to contribute resources and capabilities to advance the New Beginning effort. Entrepreneurs for a New Beginning
This is a new two-way professional exchange program for rising business and social entrepreneurs. The State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs will bring 100 entrepreneurs to the U.S. and will work with private sector partners to send 100 American entrepreneurs abroad over the next 4 years. TechWomen Program
TechWomen is a new professional mentorship program for women from eligible Muslim-majority countries working in technology. Participants will travel to the U.S. in the spring of 2011 to work with mid-level female employees at U.S. firms, and select American counterparts will travel to participants' home regions to offer skills development for a broader range of women. E-Mentor Corps
The State Department has partnered with online platforms to begin coordinating a corps of entrepreneurship mentors. We have received Statements of Intent from some leading U.S. companies, business networks and business schools to commit to ask members of their networks to serve as E-Mentors. Our goal will be to provide mentorship for 5,000 aspiring and emerging entrepreneurs of all kinds in the next 2 years. Expansion of E-Mentor Corps»

Entrepreneurship is a key vehicle to improve economic conditions and expand job creation and social change in the MENA region.
