Boston...A Worcester man was sentenced today in federal court for two counts of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Marcel Becker, 23, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor, IV to 51 months in prison, to be followed by 3 years of supervised release. Becker pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number on Sept. 8, 2011.
Had the case proceeded to trial the Government’s evidence would have proven that on Jan. 8, 2010, Becker sold two firearms with obliterated serial numbers to an undercover federal agent in exchange for $1,200.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz and Guy Thomas, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives made the announcement today. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Cory S. Flashner of Ortiz’s Worcester branch Office Unit.
