BOSTON - A West Springfield man was convicted yesterday in federal court of possession of child pornography.
William Crites, 43, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Douglas P. Woodlock to possession of child pornography. Between March 11, 2011 and May 3, 2011 Crites possessed child pornography on a tablet computer he owned.
Judge Woodlock scheduled sentencing for Oct. 29, 2012. Crites faces up to 20 years in prison, to be followed by life years of supervised release.
United States Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz; John Gibbons, United States Marshal; Hampden County District Attorney Mark G. Mastroianni and Colonel Timothy P. Alben of the Massachusetts State Police made the announcement today. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex J. Grant of Ortiz’s Springfield Branch Unit.
