Special Advisor to the CGH Director:
Stephen L. Cochi, MD, MPH
Stephen L. Cochi, MD, MPH, is Senior Advisor to the Director, CDC Center for Global Health (CGH), on Immunization and the Global Health Initiative, in addition to continuing his role as Senior Advisor to the Director, Global Immunization Division, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.
Dr. Cochi received his Bachelor’s Degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his M.D. from Duke University, and his M.P.H. from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, and is board certified in pediatrics and preventive medicine. He joined CDC in 1982 as an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the Division of Bacterial and Mycotic Diseases. He has held different senior positions in immunization work at CDC including Director of the Global Immunization Division, Deputy Director and Acting Director, National Immunization Program, and overseeing collaboration with WHO, UNICEF, PAHO, GAVI and the UN Foundation.
